This is a lovely cottage in a great location. The village is small enough for a proper holiday feel, but still only an easy 25 min drive from York. Easy walking distance to two great pubs as well. Cottage itself very well presented and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect cottage as a base for Yorkshire with York only 3 miles up the road and Whitby, Scarborough, Ripon, Harrogate, Beverley & The Dales all within easy access each day. A few little health & safety issues to be sorted and a couple of practical ideas but it was a luxurious stay in a fabulous little cottage.

We loved our stay at this holiday cottage. Clean and welcoming, everything we needed was provided. Owners Julia & Chris left a lovely welcome hamper then Julia met us to orientate us around the cottage and the area. Lovely touches made us feel very welcome. Elvington is a lovely village with good transport connections to local areas.

Such a gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location. York was about a 20-minute car ride away so perfect for exploring the city and the surrounding area. The owners met us on arrival and were so lovely; wanting us to have a perfect holiday. The welcome pack was amazing, even treats for our dog! The cottage was cosy and the beds so comfortable. After long days in the city, exploring and walking it was so nice to come back and relax. Would definitely return and can recommend this property.

If you are looking for a beautiful country cottage in a perfect quiet village within a short drive to York and the surrounding countryside this is it! We had a wonderful week here and the cottage is gorgeous/welcome gifts simply amazing and host was lovely and friendly. Would definitely stay again. Cottage Review 5* Guest Stubbings
Definitely mention the secret garden! We spent a lot of time there with our dog. Knowing about it in advance would have been great. Possibly mention the steep stairs. We were OK, but it might be a problem for some people. We had a lovely time and the weather helped us to get out and about. We found a good Sainsbury's and Aldi at Pocklington, which might be helpful.

Cottage Review 4.5* Guests Herwin family Beautifully quaint cottage in a lovely little village We had a great weekend in York and enjoyed staying at the cottage. The village pub was lovely and the locals friendly - we loved having a pub on the doorstep. The local shop is close by too - very handy for picking up essentials. We enjoyed a few dog walks in the area and most pubs welcome dogs. Julia and Chris are lovely hosts and they kindly supplied a welcome hamper.

Really loved this cottage, really quaint and peaceful. Owners left an extensive welcome package (with treats for pooch), which was gratefully recieved as only 1 shop for miles around. Area was stunning with lots of local walks and pub on the green for a drink after. 20 minutes from York itself. We really enjoyed our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Church Lane Cottage. It is in a great location, being not too far from York and Pocklington in the car, and there are lots of good dog walks around. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated. Julia and Chris are great hosts and seem to have thought of everything! Only 15 minutes walk from the St. Vincent Arms which has a great atmosphere and fabulous food (just make sure your book first ...)

We stayed here for a week in July and it was such a lovely week away. The house was truly a home from home and had everything we needed for a great stay. The courtyard garden straight out the back door was a good size to let the dog out and the secret garden was lovely and sunny and a great secure area. The local village was lovely and highly recommend the pub in the village next door, the Vincent Arms. Thank you for a great stay

Lovely little cottage with everything you need and comfortable 4 poster bed. Private garden at the back which would be perfect for summer evenings (we stayed at Christmas). The village has a nice pub and a little shop and an even nicer pub at nearby Sutton upon Derwent (15 min walk) serving really nice food.
